Fun, Games and Education Headline the East Coast Ambassador Retreat
Fun times were served up at the USAPA Ambassador Retreat at Club Med in Port St. Lucie, Florida from February 1-6, 2019. And, while play on the courts was the highlight for nearly 200 Ambassadors who made their way to sunny Florida, the Retreat provided so much more. Open discussions took place with USAPA board members on major goals and programs for the coming year, from ratings, to pickleball history lessons, youth programs, legal and insurance issues, pain management and a seminar on the USAPA/PPR affiliation.
All were informative, yet entertaining. Also, a Sponsor’s Showcase was a big hit for many Ambassadors as they got to see new equipment and apparel from the many companies that were at Club Med. Sponsors for this year’s Ambassador Retreat included California Sports Surfaces, Engage Pickleball, Franklin Pickleball, Gamma Pickleball, Head, Mueller Sports Medicine, Onix, Paddletek, Prince, and Selkirk Sport. And, of course time was scheduled to play pickleball and more pickleball. Pro Brian Staub was on hand to help attendees with their games. With the many water-related activities that were available to everyone and the sumptuous meals, all in all it was another glorious time for the USAPA Ambassadors.
Raffle tickets were sold during cocktail hours, with a grand prize trip to any Club Med in the United States. When all was said and done, $5,425 in donations were collected for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Many thanks to all who helped with the creation of the East Coast Ambassador Retreat.
