Classes Are in Full Swing at USAPA Pickleball Universities in 2019
Much like an Ivy League diploma, participation in a USAPA Pickleball University has become a highly sought-after experience, leading to improved play and a better understanding of one of the fastest growing sports in the country.
Pickleball players from across the United States traveled to Club Med at Sandpiper Bay in Port St Lucie, Florida to attend this year’s first two USAPA University experiences. Because of such high demand for the University at Club Med, there were two sessions, January 26 – 29 and January 29 – February 1.
An additional USAPA Pickleball University will be held on August 25-28 at the magnificent Granlibakken Resort in breathtaking Lake Tahoe. Details of USAPA Pickleball University West are available on the USAPA website at usapa.org.
Participants received high level instruction from top players like Brian Staub, Sara Ansboury, Jennifer Lucore, Rob Davidson, Rodney “Rocket” Grubbs, Josh Grubbs, Nicole Hobson, Jim and Yvonne Hackenberg, Brian Freso and Tim Kuss. Each of the two Universities featured six of these top pros.
Participants learned the fine art of dinking, ground strokes, net play, serving, volleying and overall court management. They were also treated to the spectacular amenities of this all-inclusive sports venue and, of course, the USAPA’s graduation ceremonies.
Located two hours north of Miami, Club Med at Sandpiper Bay provided the perfect atmosphere for the USAPA’s first two Universities in 2019. With an 8 to 1 player to instructor ratio, all the students received plenty of individual attention and will utilize the new instruction and helpful hints once they return back to their home courts.
While interest is running high in the remaining USAPA University in Lake Tahoe, there may be some spots available due to cancellations. If you’re interested in taking your game to the next level, contact Linda Gartlan at firstname.lastname@example.org.
