Instructions for Offline Editing of Tournament Brackets
Tournament brackets may be edited online or offline to record the
results of matches. To edit brackets online, go to the
tournament administration login page and click on the link to list the
tournament brackets. Each bracket has an edit link.
Simply click on the edit link, fill in the match results and
save the results. Changes are automatically published to the website
when they are saved.
There have some requests to be able to edit offline at tournaments
where a laptop is used, but where there is no internet connection.
Follow these instructions for offline editing.
- Display each of the brackets that are listed on the
brackets page in your browser. Save the bracket as a web
page. From the file menu, click "Save As...", then choose the file type
of "Webpage, HTML only" (note: do not choose "webpage complete").
Retain the same file name, but use the html or htm filetype
extension.
- Edit and save the file with a webpage editor. Simply fill
in the results of the matches on the form. See below for
editor recommendations.
- Email the files to the USAPA as file attachments.
Most WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) webpage editors can be
used. However, some webpage editors mess up the source code
in an attempt to make the page conform to their way of doing things.
To avoid problems like that, it is recommended to use the
KompoZer editor available at http://kompozer.sourceforge.net/.
Composer is recommended for the following reasons:
- It is free
to install from the above link.
- It has been tested to not mess up the source code.
- It is available for several operating systems including
Windows, Linux, and Mac OSX.
